What is a Sitter Session Photoshoot...?

A sitter session Photoshoot is a wonderful way to document one of the most precious stages in your baby's development, typically when they are around 6 to 10 months old. At this age, your little one can sit up confidently without support but hasn't quite started crawling or walking yet. It's such a sweet spot in their growth—your baby is becoming more independent, curious about the world, and their unique personality really starts to shine through. Their expressions become more varied and intentional, they’re often full of big smiles, cheeky grins, and wonder-filled eyes as they interact with their surroundings. These are the moments where they’re discovering their own abilities, and every giggle, gesture, and curious glance is worth capturing. This stage flies by so quickly, and a sitter session freezes these fleeting, precious memories before they transition into the next chapter of toddlerhood.

During the session, which typically lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour, I work to create a relaxed and comfortable environment. This timeframe is perfect for capturing a variety of poses, from those cute upright sitting shots to more playful, natural interactions. I always work at your baby’s pace, taking breaks when needed to keep them happy and engaged. My goal is to make sure your little one feels at ease so we can capture their genuine expressions and personality without feeling rushed.

When it comes to what your baby should wear, I recommend choosing simple, neutral-toned outfits that let your baby’s natural charm take centre stage. Soft pastels, creams, and earthy tones photograph beautifully, creating timeless images that will never go out of style. Textures like knits, lace, or cotton add subtle interest without overwhelming the focus. It’s important to choose clothing that’s comfortable and allows your baby to move freely so they stay happy throughout the session. However, you don’t need to worry if you’re not sure what to bring—I have a carefully curated selection of sitter outfits in my studio that we can use, ensuring we’ll have the perfect look for your baby. And of course, keeping them barefoot is always a lovely option, adding a natural touch and showcasing their adorable tiny toes!

One of the best things about a sitter session is that it can be a family affair! Parents and siblings are more than welcome to join in and be part of these cherished memories. Capturing the connection between your baby and their older siblings or parents makes for some truly heartwarming images that you’ll treasure forever. These moments of bonding, laughter, and pride—whether it’s a sibling beaming with joy over their baby brother or sister or parents sharing a tender moment with their little one—are just as fleeting and precious as the milestones your baby is reaching.

And if you have a family dog, bring them along too! Pets are an important part of the family, and including them in your session can add an extra layer of warmth and joy to your images. Babies and dogs together always make for adorable, unforgettable photos, creating even more reasons to smile as you look back on these moments in years to come.

If you're considering a Sitter Session Photoshoot, now is the perfect time to book. This stage in your baby’s development is so fleeting, and capturing it will allow you to look back on these precious moments for years to come.

Feel free to reach out, and together, we can create beautiful, timeless images that will serve as a lasting memory of your baby’s journey through these early milestones.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Much love
